Action Alert: Blue Origin Looks to Dump Rocket Wastewater into Indian River Lagoon

Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company, has requested a permit from Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection to dump 500,000 gallons per day of processed and non-processed industrial wastewater into an onsite stormwater pond, and then to the Indian River. This already taxed ecosystem suffers from nutrient pollution, algal blooms, seagrass die offs, record manatee deaths, and other impacts from existing rocket launches. Brevard County Commissioners voice concern over this request, citing the funds the community has invested into cleaning up the Indian River, as this waterway supports fishing and charter companies, tourism, and more.
