Reef Relief Project Reports
- Reef Relief 1998 Cuba Expedition Report

In 1998 Reef Relief entered into an agreement with the Cuban Institute of Oceanography to survey the coral reefs of Cuba over a five year period. In June of 1998, Craig and DeeVon Quirolo sailed the entire length of the Archipelago de los Colorados to survey the adjacent coral reefs. These reefs, located on the northwest coast of Cuba are known as the Arecifes de los Colorados.
The online version of this report includes 280 online photos by Craig Quirolo, Director of Marine Projects, which detail Reef Relief's survey of the coral reefs off Cuba. This report shows exactly how we monitor the changing reef ecosystems at home and abroad, via extensive still and video photography.

According to scientists from the Cuban Institute of Oceanography, this was the first survey of these coral reefs in the past eight years.
- Coral Nursery Project Report
Reef Relief works to restore damaged areas of the reef via a coral nursery at Western Sambo Reef in the Florida Keys. Loose fragments of Elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata) are cemented onto a concrete pad to form rosettes that are fastened to the ocean floor to restore areas of the reef scoured by boat groundings or storm damage. This innovative technique was designed by Harold Hudson of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
An online version of Reef Relief's printed report on the Coral Nursery Project is now available. The report, by Craig Quirolo, Director of Marine Projects, includes 100's of photos of the Coral Nursery, which document the project from February 25, 1998 through December 1, 1998. The report also includes a substantial narrative, photo captions, field notes, and a study of Elkhorn Coral in selected sites in the Caribbean.
