David Helvarg, President of Blue Frontier Campaign and a Reef Relief Board Member has done it again. This latest book follows last year's Ocean and Coastal Conservation Guide and is being launched by The Blue Frontier Campaign, a group working to strengthen America’s ocean constituency. 50 Ways to Save the Ocean is the first and only guidebook highlighting the challenges of saving the seas and offering concrete action steps for individuals to take. Complete with a foreword by Philippe Cousteau and illustrations by Sherman’s Lagoon cartoonist Jim Toomey, it will inspire people to become more engaged in marine issues. This book signing is part of a national tour that includes 24 cities, including a book signing in KEy West at Reef Relief on Thursday, April 27th, after which date autographed copies of the book will be available. Each of the fifty chapters includes descriptions of organizations such as Reef Relief that are doing good work, as well as a resource guide in the back of groups, businesses, and other contacts.
“50 Ways to Save the Ocean is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the issues our oceans face and the solutions that we can all be a part of, at a time that couldn’t be more urchin (I mean urgent),” notes David Helvarg.
“Everyone, from toddler to tycoon, can find inspiration for action in this must-have guide to ocean care,” adds ocean explorer Sylvia Earle.
“David Helvarg has drafted a workable blueprint for grassroots action to save the seas,” agrees Robert Kennedy, Jr.
Editor David Helvarg is a journalist turned activist and author of “ Blue Frontier” and “The War Against the Greens” as well. He is also a Reef Relief Board Member.
