The Grasshopper Sparrow

Named for the grasshopperlike buzz in its weak song, the Grasshopper Sparrow is a resident of dry grass prairies. Darker than other forms of this species, the Florida Grasshopper Sparrow can be seen throughout the state from mid-October to early May. Its diet ranges from insects during summer to seeds during winter.
