The Piping Plover
A migrant and winter visitor to the southwest Gulf Coast and Keys, the Piping Plover is found exclusively around seashore dunes and beaches. Its flutelike call is two-noted and musical. It is usually seen hunting in a stop-and-go fashion searching sandy beaches and flotsam for invertebrate prey.
